Online first aid courses

Illinois follows the federal OSHA rule (29 CFR 1910.151(b)) for private-sector workplaces: no numeric first-aider-to-worker ratio, but where no infirmary, clinic or hospital is in near proximity the employer must ensure one or more adequately trained persons and first-aid supplies are available. OSHA reads 'near proximity' as a 3–4 minute emergency response for higher-hazard sites and up to 15 minutes for low-hazard offices.

Illinois Administrative Code Title 89, § 407.100(h), administered by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), requires at least one staff member on duty at all times to be currently certified in first aid, age-specific CPR (infant, child and adult) and the Heimlich maneuver. Under the Illinois Licensing Standards for Foster Family Homes (Ill. Admin. Code tit. 89, Part 402), training toward first-aid, Heimlich and CPR certification is recognized as approved foster-parent training, and current CPR certification is specifically required for homes with a pool, hot tub, pond or similar water feature. The requirement is administered by DCFS and its licensed child-welfare agencies.
